The striker will have a scan to find out the extent
of a hamstring injury and may be forced to sit out of a meeting with his
former employers
Benteke, a £32 million arrival from Villa this summer, may miss the meeting having sustained an injury during the first half of the club's 1-1 draw against Norwich City on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday's League Cup tie with Carlisle United, which Benteke is ruled out of, first-team coach Gary McAllister confirmed the Belgium international would need further assessment.
"Christian is going to have an MRI scan today," McAllister said on Tuesday.
"Hopefully we'll find out [about] the problem. He's got a little problem on his hamstring."
McAllister also praised Danny Ings, who came on as a replacement for Benteke and scored his first goal since moving to Liverpool from Burnley in June.
He said: "Danny Ings came on and it was really refreshing to see his performance.
"I think, if you'd seen him every day since he arrived here at the training ground, if there's anyone that deserved a goal it was Danny.
"He's been working his socks off. It's not by fluke, it's by pure hard work that he managed to get that chance and finish it so well. He's been working hard at his game."
Daniel Sturridge played for 63 minutes against Norwich on his return following hip surgery and McAllister acknowledged that the England striker's workload must be managed carefully. . This posts are taken from the original authorized page. Authorized by the original author.
