I would have left Liverpool if not selected against Arsenal, says Lucas

The 28-year-old insists he did not want to leave Anfield but would have if Brendan Rodgers had not called on him against the Gunners
Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva admits he would have left Anfield had he not played against Arsenal.

Lucas was not in the squad for the club's opening two league games but started their third match at the Emirates Stadium in late August when captain Jordan Henderson was unavailable through injury.

The Brazil midfielder was one of the best players on the pitch in the scoreless draw, with Reds manager Brendan Rodgers starting him in every game since, and Lucas admits he would have left if not picked.

"Maybe if there hadn't been the Arsenal game, I wouldn't be here now," he told reporters.

"But I always believe that things happen for a reason. I'm very happy that I stayed and I will keep fighting for the club as I have been doing for the past eight years." . This posts are taken from the original authorized page. Authorized by the original author.
